About Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a beautiful Island , located in the Indian ocean. It's a country from the Indian subcontinent of South Asia. The main city of Sri Lanka is Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte and the largest City in Sri Lanka is Colombo. Colombo is also the Business capital of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka has a huge written history , which works back upto 2500 years. Reputation Sri Lankan is written in Mahavamsa and Mahayana.



Sri Lanka were also know by various names in the past such as ; Ceylon, Taprobane, Serandib, Singala ect. Sri Lanka received Independence from the British in the year of 1948. Sri Lanka became a Republic in the year of 1978.



The first non-executive president of Sri Lanka was William Gopallawa. The initial executive president of Sri Lanka was J.R. Jayawardena. The present president of Sri Lanka Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa , he ended the 25 years long civil war and LTTE terrorism in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is currently governed by the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA). From our government election of 2011, UPFA was able to receive 61% of the total votes.



Tourism is one of the Main industries in Sri Lanka. 100,000 tourists visits Sri Lanka every year to enjoy its natural beauty. Many hotels and guest houses can be found all over the island to supply accommodation.
